Soak your hands in salad oil after completing an oil painting job.  The oil will help release the paint from where it has splattered on your hands.  Salad oil smells better and is a lot safer than the typical cleanup choices of mineral spirits or kerosene.

If you are looking for a simple improvement to your home then head to the store and grab some paint.  A fresh coat of paint can make a house feel brand new and requires minimal output in both cash and time.  A new paint job will also increase the attractiveness of your home to possible buyers if you are looking to sell.

When doing a DIY home improvement project, put safety first. Make sure you wear protective equipment such as a hard hat and goggles when needed. Use power tools (especially ones you are not familiar with) with extreme caution. Read the directions and ask for help when needed. Home improvement stores are a great resource of information.

New floor covering is a great way to update the look and feel of any room in your house. A reputable flooring company can install new hardwood, carpet, laminate or tile flooring in as little as one day or visit your local home improvement store for do it yourself options.

Give the bubble in your old vinyl floor covering a shot!  If a bubble exists in an old vinyl floor, it is easy to slice into it and release the air.  This will temporarily flatten the bubble.  You'll need to inject some fresh glue, however, to hold the repaired section to the floor.  Use glue that you buy in syringes to do the job.

When considering home improvement projects, don't forget to include landscaping. Your front lawn is the first thing people see when they look at your home, and a beautiful front lawn can impress your neighbors and any visitors. Keep the grass tidy and neat, and consider putting in shrubs and flowering plants to beautify your property.

Once you've checked the flapper valve, if the toilet is still running, check the chain.  If the length of the chain linking the arm lever to the flapper valve is too short, water will keep running from the tank, as there would be no seal.  To remedy this, simply remove the old chain and attach a longer one from a hardware store.
