Painting is Important

Painting is a perennial task.  Water-based latex paints make for the easiest  clean-up.  You only need soap and water.  But sometimes oil paint is best for a job.  It is longer lasting.  When cleaning up from oil paint, use cooking oil on your brushes to dissolve the paint.  Then you can use soap and water.

A nice addition to any home is a nicely crafted fence. If your home is lacking a fence, you might decide it is time to build one. Fences look great in just about any home and can help raise the property value of your home. You can also feel a little more secure, as having a fence can help keep random strangers off your property.

Before you commit to a new paint color for the exterior of your home, spend some time driving around and looking at homes that you like the look and color scheme of.  Paint chips are too hard to envision, so seeing it in person can help you make a better decision.

Adding accessories to your room can be a great way to make a space feel like your own. Infuse your own personality into your room by carefully choosing some accessories to your liking. Make sure not to go overboard with decorations because it can make a small room feel rather cramped.

Make your home feel like a home by adding a doormat. A lot of people tend to overlook the addition of a doormat in front of a door. It not only serves a purpose of making a home feel complete, but also serves to keep your floors clean. Putting out a doormat where people can wipe their feet will cut down the amount of time you spend cleaning your floors.

Use an old, dirty paint roller to clean the gutters on your house. The old paint roller that you have deemed unusable will quickly and easily clean your dirty gutters. Attach the roller to an extended handle. Then simply remove debris and leaves by sliding it along the gutter.

Improve your home by cutting your energy costs.  Check with your utility company to see if they offer energy audits of homes.  There are a lot of changes you can make to make your home more energy efficient saving hundreds of dollars a year depending on the amount of changes you can make.  It also adds a great selling point for a house for the future.

Roof improvements can be an excellent choice for a home improvement project. Consider choosing white tile to re-do your roof. Tiles that are lighter in color can reduce the amount of heat that is pulled into your attic. This helps to save you money on your energy bills in the summer.

Use a flexible container to mix up just enough dry plaster of Paris for your intended use.  When you are finished with the job all you have to do is allow the remainder of the plaster to harden, turn the container upside down over a trash can, and flex the sides.  The plaster will cleanly separate from the container and you can put the container away to use on the next job.
